The Secretariat of the International Network of Participation for Sustainable Management of Natural Resources is coordinated by CODERSA.

The International Network of Participation for Sustainable Management of Natural Resources is a Community of Practice operating in Latin America, integrated by approximately 500 members, all forestry, rural and local development practitioners, and with practical experience in the use of a wide range of participatory methodologies. The operational language of the Network is Spanish. However, everyone who is interested in its activities, is more than welcome to subscribe to the Network. Furthermore, there are certain documents available in English.

Vision

Fair and effective participation processes have been internalized and farmer and indigenous communities in Latin America and the Caribbean increasingly interact and are linked to public and private organizations. These processes are based on empowered capacities in areas such as capacities of political, technical and social management that lead to an equitable development, poverty reduction and sustainable management of natural resources.

Mission

To strengthen associative and proactive processes of formation, increase and consolidation of social capital, local empowerment, self-management and co-management of participatory and integral natural resource management in the Latin American and Caribbean region. That these processes are ecologically sound, economically viable and culturally compatible through increased sharing of shared spaces for dialogue as well as mechanisms and opportunities for shared analysis.

While developing these functions, gender equity criteria and ethnic and intercultural characteristics of groups and organizations will be respected, as well as urban-rural relationships and relevant relationships between different levels (local, regional, national and international).
